EUREKA, the International, Inter-Governmental Program (http://www.eurekanetwork.org/) has today granted ‘Applicant Label’ status to the European SMART Advanced Manufacturing initiative.  This initiative has the support of Czech R., Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Turkey
and Ireland.  Ireland’s involvement in this initiative is led by Irish Manufacturing Research and is supported by UCD, and several Irish companies, including; Croom Precision, Ceramicx Ireland, Dawn Foods, Ventac, Schrumgrad Energie, Malone Group, Grant Engineering, Schivo Group and Truform.

At present, more than 130 organisations distributed among 20 countries have expressed their interest in participating in future SMART projects. The Core Group members (which includes Irish Manufacturing Research) will create the structures and instruments required to operate the cluster and plans to launch its first call for projects in December 2017.
