The future policy direction for manufacturing across the European Union was the topic of focus at the European Industry – Futuring Workshop, June 2017, held in Brussels by the ManuFuture Platform and the EU Commission.  The workshop gathered together the industry and policy partners in Europe with a view to developing policy parameters, at a strategic level, for the Union going forward.  Andrew Lynch, Chief Innovation Officer with Irish Manufacturing Research, represented the Irish industrial input to the process.  As part of the program, Andrew met with Sean O’Reagain the Industrial Technologies – Advanced Manufacturing Systems and Biotechnologies, DG Research and Innovation, European Commission.   Policy output from the program centred on sustainable innovation and the circular economy.  For more on this workshop see or contact Andrew directly on
