IMR were delighted to present at the launch of 2 significant new investments in advanced manufacturing research in Queens University Belfast. The £7.5M investments were launched at the Manufacturing beyond the Horizon conference. The iAMS centre is led by Prof. Sean McLoone and will look at fundamental research in intelligent and autonomous systems. The NITC Scenic project led by Colm Higgins will provide advanced machining capabilities for manufacturing Industry.
The conference brought together leaders from Research and Industry to highlight the ecosystem of UK and Irish RTOs (Research and Technology Organisations) leading Industry 4.0 advanced manufacturing research as well as showing many examples of Industry digitisation success stories.
Micheal Cassidy, CTO of Irish Manufacturing Research presented on how IMR are helping to connect IMR’s capability with complementary capability throughout the UK for the benefit of manufacturing companies throughout Ireland. This is part of IMR’s position as the Irish Digital Innovation Hub for CPS/IoT (Cyber-Physical Systems and Industrial Internet of Things) providing a one-stop-shop for industry to access skills, people, industrial capability, and funding.
